I don't know the version but I just updated my windows office 4 months ago.  I have a question showing on the control screen and I downloaded the HP app and am on the ink program.  The HP app shows 2 jobs but printer shows nothing.  But if I select in about the printer from the menu it will print that.

Hi @Lisa488,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

You're doing a great job trying to get your HP printer working, and I can imagine how confusing it is when the app shows jobs, but the printer doesn’t respond, especially when it prints the "About Printer" page just fine. Let’s walk through this together.

1. Complete Setup in HP Smart

Sometimes the printer needs to be registered or activated before it can print normally.

  • Open the HP Smart app
  • Tap your printer → go to Settings > Printer Setup
  • Look for any prompts like “Finish Setup”“Activate HP+”, or “Enable Printing Services”
  • Follow the steps to complete setup

2. Check Internet Connection

If you're enrolled in HP Instant Ink, the printer needs to stay online.

  • Make sure your printer is connected to Wi-Fi (check the wireless icon on the screen)
  • If not, go to Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard and reconnect

3. Clear Print Queue

Sometimes jobs get stuck in the queue:

  • On your computer, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers
  • Right-click your HP printer → See what’s printing
  • Cancel all jobs
  • Try printing again

4. Restart Everything

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it for 30 seconds
  • Restart your computer or phone
  • Reopen HP Smart and try printing again

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
