Hi I have a hp envy 6055e printer that worked flawlessly on an older version of Mac IOS.  I upgrade to Sequoia version 15.6.1 and now it only prints in basic black and white and lost all of its printing options (color, quality, etc) and installed a HP envy 6000 generic driver.

 

Also after a paper jam, it seems to print, but the page comes out blank.  

 

Can you help me solve these problems?

Thanks for explaining the issue so clearly. Upgrading to macOS Sequoia (15.6.1) often causes two common problems with HP printers:

  1. Generic driver installed → Loss of color and advanced print options.
  2. Blank pages after paper jam → Possible printhead or ink system issue.

Let’s fix both step by step:

Part 1: Restore Full Printing Features on macOS Sequoia

When macOS installs a generic AirPrint driver, you lose color, quality, and duplex options.

Steps:

  1. Remove the Printer
    • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
    • Select your HP Envy 6055e → Click Remove Printer.
  2. Download HP App
  3. Install HP Full Feature Driver
    • Go to Official HP® Support.
    • Enter HP Envy 6055e → Download HP Easy Start.
    • Run HP Easy Start and select Full Feature Software (not AirPrint).
  4. Reset Printing System (Optional)
    • In Printers & Scanners, right-click → Reset Printing System.
    • Re-add the printer using HP Smart or HP Easy Start.

Part 2: Fix Blank Pages After Paper Jam

This usually means the printhead lost prime or ink flow was disrupted.

Steps:

  1. Check Ink Levels
    • On printer screen or HP app → Ensure cartridges have ink.
  2. Run Printhead Cleaning
    • On printer: Setup > Tools > Clean Printhead.
    • Repeat up to 3 times if needed.
  3. Align Printhead
    • Setup > Tools > Align Printhead.
  4. Update Firmware
    • From HP App
