Hi @margejph

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your HP OfficeJet 4630 was connected wirelessly before changing routers and now you are having issues reconnecting it, try the following steps:

1. Restart Devices

  • Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Router: Restart the router by unplugging it from the power source, waiting for about 30 seconds, then plugging it back in.
  • Computer/Device: Restart the computer or device you are using to connect to the printer.

2. Reset Wireless Settings on the Printer

  • Restore Network Settings:
    • On the printer's control panel, navigate to the Setup menu.
    • Select "Network," then "Restore Network Settings."
    • Confirm the reset.

3. Reconnect the Printer to the New Wi-Fi Network

WPS Method (if supported by the router)

  • Press the WPS button on your router.
  • On the printer, go to the Wireless settings menu and select "Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)."
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the connection process.

Using HP Auto Wireless Connect

  • On the printer's control panel, navigate to the Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • Select your new Wi-Fi network from the list of available networks.
  • Enter the Wi-Fi password when prompted.
  • Follow any additional on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

4. Reinstall Printer Drivers and Software

  • Remove the printer from your list of installed printers on your computer.
  • Download the latest drivers and software for the HP OfficeJet 4630 from the HP Support page.
  • Install the drivers and follow the prompts to set up the printer on the new Wi-Fi network.

5. Manually Assign a Static IP Address (Advanced)

  • Access Printer Settings:
    • On the printer’s control panel, print a Network Configuration Page to find the current IP address.
  • Open the Web Interface:
    • Open a web browser on your computer.
    • Enter the printer’s IP address into the address bar to access the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS).
  • Assign Static IP:
    • Navigate to the Network settings.
    • Manually assign an IP address that is within the range of your network but outside the DHCP range of your router.
    • Save the settings and restart the printer.

6. Check Router Settings

  • Ensure that your new router is not set to "Access Point" or "Guest Network" mode, which may have restrictions.
  • Verify that the router’s firewall settings allow the printer to connect.
  • If necessary, reset the router to its default settings and then configure it again.

7. Firmware Updates

  • Make sure both the printer and router firmware are up to date.
  • Visit the HP Support page to check for any available firmware updates for your printer.
