HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer series

I have HP Officejet 8610 and want to use OCR to scan a printed hard copy so I can edit it

I no longer have a digital version of the printed hard copy. I want to scan it with OCR then convert it (if it doesnt convert during the scanning) to Word so I can edit it

There are 6 options (or at least the first 5 on the following image) when using Scan on computer:

Please select the OCR option.

Plenty of Free OCR software on the web.

Free OCR

OCR to Word

http://www.ocrtoword.com/

Both work great.

Sounds like you selected Scan a Photo, not Document. Your screen should look like the following one, same options as on my posted image above

Updated: Your printer should come with OCR foftware.

I too have issues with OCR, there is no setup option for OCR. There is no option in the set up. Only thing I can choose is scan to computer - scan OCR to ...., but it fails to complete. Please suggest what can be done. My unit is about four years old now. All is satisfactory otherwise.
