I just bought this laptop like a month ago and tried hooking my printer up to it but it says the driver is unavailable. I've talked with Microsoft, with the HP support for my computer who literally took over my laptop and still couldn't get it hooked up. She said I needed HP support for the printer or the computer, whichever.

It shouldn't make a difference but I bought this printer like 3 years ago and back then it worked on my sons, my husbands and my laptop but I don't think we had the windows 11 then { could be wrong} but it's very frustrating to have to go through all this and still not have a printer to go with my laptop, especially when it'll print off my phone...

Oh and HPSmart  can't find my computer, it always says it's unavailable.. I just don't understand what is going on!!

Any ideas??

Thank you

The printer may be setup in wifi direct mode at 2.4 ghz but your laptop may be trying to connect at 5ghz or vice-versa

It is also possible when the printer wakes up from sleep, it gets a different IP address and the laptop cannot find it anymore.  This can easily happen if you have a flex system (multiple WIFi boosters)

Page 9 of users manuals shows how to get a network report

Get a printer network report. The PINs and Passwords should show up. Here is the important stuff from a typical printer report. The password shown in WiFi can be the printers PIN or the modem's password depending on how you connected to the modem. The printer can have two bands but the only one that is connected will show up.  The following shows that the SSID of the 2.4ghz band was renamed as ATT-ARRIS-2 .4
In the last column either the PIN or a password will be shown.

I recommend you connect the printer to the modem.

Page 22 shows how to use the WPS or push button method to connect to the modem instead of above "pictures"

You may need to reset the printer to get it out of WiFi direct mode and into WiFi setup mode

This video shows to reset the printer 2700 series.  Do not do a full or complete reset as you might be asked to insert your original setup cartridges which you are unlike to have.

Once the printer is working for all devices, I recommend you log into the printers EWS page and set the printer so it does not sleep.  Alternately log into the modem, look for the IP4 network address of the printer, and assigned that address as fixed.
