My HP computer is not communicating with my  HP Printer which is a HP ENVY 5660 e-All-in One Printer.  I have tried deleting and reinstalling, but not working?   I have tried with the "C:\Users\larry\Downloads\Full_Webpack-40.15.1230-EN5660_Full_Webpack.exe" but has not worked either.  Thought maybe it would work with a USB cord but it gets to a point and won't let me go further.

Any ideas?

Hi @Daytonia

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I’m sorry you’re running into this communication problem—it’s frustrating when the printer refuses to connect even after reinstalling drivers and trying USB. I appreciate the effort you’ve already put in.

Let’s go step by step to clear Code 45 and restore communication between your HP computer and the HP ENVY 5660:

Step 1: Power Reset

  1. Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord from the rear.
  2. Unplug the cord from the wall outlet.
  3. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the cord back in and power on the printer.
  5. Restart your computer as well.

Step 2: Remove Printer Completely

  1. On Windows, open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
  2. Select the HP ENVY 5660 and choose Remove device.
  3. Disconnect any USB cable if attached.
  4. Restart the computer.

Step 3: Reinstall Drivers Fresh

  1. Download the latest full software package for the HP ENVY 5660 from HP’s official site: HP ENVY 5660 Drivers and Software.
  2. Run the installer and follow the guided steps.
  3. When prompted, connect the printer via USB or Wi‑Fi.
  4. Allow the installer to finish before attempting to print.

Step 4: Check Device Manager

  1. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
  3. If you see the printer listed with a yellow warning, right‑click and choose Uninstall device.
  4. Disconnect the printer, restart the computer, then reconnect to allow Windows to reinstall the driver.

Step 5: Test with HP App

  1. Open the HP App on your computer.
  2. Select Add Printer.
  3. Follow the guided setup to connect via Wi‑Fi or USB.
  4. Print a test page to confirm communication.

Step 6: Firmware Update

  1. On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update Printer.
  2. Install any available updates.
  3. Restart the printer after the update.

By fully removing the printer, refreshing the drivers, and using the HP App for setup, Code 45 should clear and the printer should communicate properly again.
