I was originally looking for the heaviest weight paper this printer can handle (for brochures and presentations). I'd still like to know that.
However, in researching that, I realized that I had never updated the firmware on this OfficeJet Pro 8720 printer. I've looked for how to do this, but every corner I turn there are more questions. Specifically, most of the instructions have me going to a certain place in the onscreen menus to select an option. (like 'Update the driver') The option doesn't exist. (BTW, Configuration detail: This printer is connected to my network via wireless connection, I believe. But I also have an Ethernet cable plugged into the back.) Also, I used to be able to send email to the printer directly. But that doesn't seem to work anymore. In addition, every time I've ever attempted to update the Printer apps, it comes back and says it can't be done at this time. So, it would appear that certain 'connectivity' details need to be looked at to determine why I can't do anything to update / configure the printer.
I CAN, however, print and scan from my LOCAL network devices (ie: DELL Tower PC). My wife can also print directly from HER laptop. (which is also local)
I suspect the firmware / software might be so old that I cannot install it in one shot. I'm thinking I may need to update it to an interim level that might then give me the options that the various online docs point to, to be able to upgrade to the most current version. But I'm at a loss as to how to do this.
