Product: HP Smart Tank 7005 All-in-One

Does this printer work without a wi fi connection?  I hardwire my computer and don't use wifi.  I have connected a cable and hope it will still connect.

Yes, the HP Smart Tank 7005 All-in-One printer can work without a Wi-Fi connection. Since you have connected it via a cable, you should be able to print using a USB connection. Just ensure that:

Drivers & Software: Install the latest HP Smart Tank 7005 drivers and software from the HP Support website.

USB Connection: The printer is properly connected to your computer via USB.

Default Printer: Set the printer as the default in Control Panel > Devices and Printers (on Windows) or System Preferences > Printers & Scanners (on macOS).
