HP Pavillion & HP Officejet Pro 8625
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I have an HP Pavilion laptop and the HP Office-jet pro 8625. I use them both wireless. When I want to print something I have to disconnect my laptop from the internet and connect the printer? This makes it impossible to print while I am on my laptop working or from my email. Is there a way to print  and be on the internet at the same time?

Hi @AMYJ2020

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

  • I assume you are using wifi-direct to connect the devices. In this case, there will be no internet access on the PC.
  • Wifi direct is used only when you do not have access to a wireless router.

Let us try these steps:

On the printer screen, go to Setup > Network > Restore network settings

Go back to Network > Wireless > Wireless setup wizard > Select your network and enter the password.

  • Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network.
  • This printer supports only 2.4GHz network. So, the PC should be on the 2.4GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.

Check if the PC is connected to the same network as the printer.

Use the HP Smart app to print and scan from your Win PC

Click here to download and know more about the app.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
