This driver update, Hewlett-Packard - USB - 11/11/2018 12:00:00 AM - 49.0.4395.18315, will not install and gives error message 0x80070103. I tried unsuccessfully to hide this update but that failed. How do I delete this update

Verify the Current Driver Version: Check which version of the driver is currently installed. Go to Device Manager, find the USB device, and check the driver version.

 

Use Windows Update Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  • Select Windows Update and run the troubleshooter.

Hide the Update Using Microsoft's Tool:

  • Download the "Show or hide updates" troubleshooter package from the Microsoft website.
  • Run the tool and select "Hide updates" to select the update causing issues.

Uninstall the Driver:

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Locate the USB device and uninstall the current driver.
  • Restart your PC and try installing the update again.

Manual Driver Installation:

  • Visit HP's official support website.
  • Search for the latest driver for your device manually and download it.
  • Install the driver from your computer instead of using Windows Update.

Check the USB Port:

  • Ensure the USB device is properly connected and functioning. Test the device on another port or computer to rule out hardware issues.

System Restore:

  • If the issue persists, consider performing a system restore to revert your system to a point before the update problem occurred.
