Hi @Chucky9411,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When you see a "printer error state" message on your HP printer, it typically indicates that there is an issue preventing the printer from functioning properly. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.

  • Check for Paper Jams: Open the printer and check for any paper jams or obstructions. Clear any jammed paper carefully.
  • Restart Your Printer: Turn off your printer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues.
  • Check Printer Connections: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer or network. If it's a wireless printer, check the wireless connection.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Outdated or corrupted printer drivers can cause errors. Visit the HP website and download the latest drivers for your specific printer model.
  • Clear Print Queue: Sometimes, a stuck print job can cause the printer to go into error state. Open the print queue on your computer and cancel any pending print jobs.
  • Reset Printer: If none of the above steps work, you may need to reset your printer to its factory settings. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Firmware updates can fix bugs and improve printer performance. Check if there are any available updates for your printer and install them.
  • Check Ink or Toner Levels: Low ink or toner levels can also cause errors. Replace any cartridges that are low or empty.

If you've tried these steps and the "printer error state" persists, there may be a hardware issue with your printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
