I'm trying to install my HP Officejet 5744 All In One Printer onto my new laptop.

I purchased a new laptop Lenovo Flex 14, I am trying to install my HP Officejet 5740 series All in One printer. My laptop keeps saying that there was no driver installed. I went to the HP site to find out how to install the drive on the Windows 10 S mode. It told me to download an app from Microsoft Store. I download the HP Smart app and tried once again to download the driver. I double checked  and the app is now on my new laptop, but the driver is not downloading. When I try to print, I can see the printer in the list of options to use, but it keeps saying there was a unexpected difficulty in downloading the printer.

Is this printer too old for this laptop?

Immediate help needed.

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I see that you are trying to print from your PC. I'd be happy to assist you.

• Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network.
• This printer supports only 2.4GHz network. So, the PC should be on the 2.4GHz network.
• If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.

Hi Kumar0307,

This did not work. Since my new laptop runs windows 10 in S mode, after the download finishes a message pops up indicating that since Microsoft windows 10 is in S mode I would have to leave S mode to finish installing the driver. However I have been warned that once I leave S mode I can not get it back.

How do I work around this?

In this case, you may use the printer by installing the HP Smart app on the PC.
