Unable to setup printer.   Have blank screen on phone and computer after selecting setup.

I’d like to gather a bit more context so we can isolate whether this is a printer issue, a setup app issue, or something environmental.

 

  • Could you tell me the printer model you’re trying to set up?
  • Are you using the HP Smart app (or another app) on your phone, and what operating system is your computer running?
  • Does the blank screen appear immediately when you tap “Setup,” or does it load partially before going blank?
  • Have you tried connecting the printer via Wi‑Fi or USB, and if so, does the behavior change?
  • Is this the first-time setup for a new printer, or are you re‑installing it after it was previously working?

These details will help narrow down whether the issue is with the printer firmware, the app/software, or the connection method. Once we know that, we can target the right troubleshooting path.
