Hi @FlacoMatas,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

HP typically provides drivers and support through their official website, and macOS usually facilitates easy addition of printers through Apple's automatic software update tool. Here are the steps you should follow to connect your HP Deskjet 4100e printer to a macOS High Sierra (10.13.6) system:

Step 1: Check HP's Support Site

  1. Visit the HP Customer Support website.
  2. Enter your printer model (HP Deskjet 4100e) in the search box to find specific drivers and software for your printer.

If the specific driver for your macOS version isn't available, you can use the generic drivers that macOS provides.

Step 2: Use macOS to Install the Printer

macOS High Sierra typically installs printers automatically using AirPrint or HP’s printer drivers through Software Update. Follow these steps:

Ensure your printer is turned on and connected to the same network as your computer, or directly connected to your computer via USB.

Open the Apple menu, then select System Preferences.

Click on 'Printers & Scanners'.

Click the '+' button to add a new printer. Your Mac will search for printers connected to the network or directly to your computer.

Select your printer from the list. If it supports AirPrint, it will use that by default. If not, macOS will suggest using the appropriate driver, or it will download it if necessary.

Follow on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

Step 3: Download and Install Manually

If the printer isn't installed automatically:

Check if there’s a downloadable driver available on the HP website that you can manually download and install.

Download the driver and open the installer to follow through the setup process.

Step 4: Check for Software Updates

  1. Go to the Apple menu.
  2. Click on 'About This Mac' and then 'Software Update'.
  3. Install any available updates, as sometimes these include updates to printer drivers and software.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
