After having connectivity issues, I was able to get the printer to connect with my PC. However, when I attempted to open the print app using the icon in the tool bar, other windows opened asking me to reconnect which I had already done. After, multiple attempts to close all the windows, I ultimately uninstalled all the HP software via the "Programs" page on my Control Panel. I am now unable to identify and download the appropriate software for the 3830. I was directed to HP Smart view Microsoft and keep getting an error message telling me to retry. I have spent the better part of 2 hours plus attempting to solve this issue.

I get the following screen:

Hi @JohnNC72,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you've had a frustrating experience with your HP OfficeJet 3830 All-in-One Printer. Let's try to resolve this by reinstalling the necessary software step by step:z

Prepare Your System:

  • Ensure that your printer is powered on and connected to your computer via USB cable or wireless network.
  • Make sure you have administrative privileges on your computer.

Visit the HP Support Website:

Download the Software:

  • Locate the section for software and drivers. HP OfficeJet 3830 All-in-One Printer Software and Driver
  • Download the latest version of the full feature software and drivers for your operating system. Make sure to choose the correct operating system version (e.g., Windows 10 64-bit, macOS).

Install the Software:

  • Once the download is complete, locate the downloaded file and double-click it to start the installation process.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to install the software. This may involve agreeing to terms and conditions, selecting installation options, and waiting for the installation to complete.

Complete the Installation:

  • After the installation is complete, restart your computer to ensure that all changes take effect.
  • Once your computer has restarted, try opening the HP Smart app again and see if it detects your printer without any errors.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello Gaya,

Thank you for the response. Unfortunately, I had attempted the steps you outlined at least 6 times times, using both the full feature software and then the basic driver package both of which were unsuccessful. The printer has a wireless connection established (I printed out the information from the printer screen directly) and, while the software would download successfully, I received a message to the effect that the installation was unsuccessful. I decided to drop back and punt; in other words, I have an on-site visit scheduled for next week. I have the feeling there may be a corrupt pathway in the computer itself which takes it beyond a printer problem.

Thank you once again for the response.
