Hi @TW-24
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
May I know are you referring to printer password?
How are you trying to connect the printer? Are you using wifi-direct?
To set up an HP printer and pair it with your device, you'll typically need to go through a few steps depending on whether you're connecting via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or USB. If your printer requires a pairing code for Wi-Fi or Bluetooth setup, it's often printed on a label on the printer itself or in the printer's setup instructions.
Here’s a general guide for setting up a wireless HP printer:
1. Check the Printer's Display Panel (for newer models with a screen):
- Many HP printers with a display will show a pairing or connection code on the screen when you try to connect to Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
- Look for a Wi-Fi Setup Wizard or Bluetooth Setup option on the screen. This may prompt you for a code.
2. Check for a Wi-Fi Direct Setup:
- Some HP printers allow you to connect directly to the printer's Wi-Fi network via Wi-Fi Direct (a type of peer-to-peer connection).
- If this is the case, the printer should display the Wi-Fi Direct name and password on the display screen or a sticker on the printer. You can enter this information to pair the devices.
3. HP Smart App Setup (for most wireless printers):
- Download the HP Smart App from the HP Smart website or your device's app store.
- Open the app, and follow the on-screen instructions to set up the printer.
- During this process, the app will guide you to connect to the printer over your Wi-Fi network.
- The app should also show you if a pairing code is needed during the setup.
4. WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup):
- If your router supports WPS, you can use this feature to connect your HP printer to your Wi-Fi network without needing a pairing code.
- On the printer’s control panel, select Wi-Fi Setup > Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS).
- Press the WPS button on your router, then confirm on your printer’s display that it has connected.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
