HI @DJLake,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To set up your HP OfficeJet 3830 printer with your Mac laptop, you'll need to download and install the appropriate drivers and software. Here’s how you can do it:
Step 1: Download the Drivers and Software
- Visit the HP Support Website: Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads.
- Enter Printer Model: Type "HP OfficeJet 3830" in the search bar and select your printer model from the list.
- Select Operating System: Ensure the operating system is correctly identified as macOS. If not, manually select your macOS version.
- Download the Software: Look for the "HP Easy Start" or the full-feature driver and software package for the HP OfficeJet 3830. Click on the download button to get the installer.
Step 2: Install the Drivers and Software
- Open the Installer: Once the download is complete, open the installer package (typically a .dmg file) from your downloads folder.
- Follow the Instructions: Follow the on-screen instructions to install the drivers and software. This may involve connecting your printer to your Mac via USB or configuring it for wireless use.
Step 3: Add the Printer
- Open System Preferences: Go to the Apple menu and select System Preferences.
- Select Printers & Scanners: Click on Printers & Scanners.
- Add Printer: Click on the + button to add a new printer.
- Select Your Printer: Your HP OfficeJet 3830 should appear in the list of available printers. Select it and follow the remaining prompts to complete the setup.
Step 4: Test the Printer
- Print a Test Page: Open a document or an image and try printing a test page to ensure the printer is working correctly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
