HP Deskjet F2180 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I have just recently had to purchase an ASUS laptop which runs on windows 11 and I have a HP Deskjet F2180 all in one.

Obviously this is causing an issue as the software drivers needed to run the printer are not on the laptop but I can't find a place to get them from as it's been retired.

Is there some place one could get the drivers as the HP unit still works well, has done for years.

Thanks.

@Johnone123, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Here are some steps to help you find and install the drivers for your printer:

Use Windows Update to Find Drivers Automatically

Windows 11 sometimes automatically finds and installs drivers for older devices. Here’s how you can check:

Open Settings on your laptop.

Go to Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional Updates.

If there are any updates available for your printer, install them.

Alternatively, you can try going to Device Manager:

Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.

Find your printer under the “Printers” section.

Right-click on it and choose Update Driver.

Select Search automatically for updated driver software and see if Windows can find it for you.

Run HP Smart:

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi. I can now advise that I went back to my updates section in settings and, even though the day before I had checked and noting was showing, I found 2 driver updates to download so I did and tried the laptop after and the printer works fine now. I can scan onto the laptop and print from so it's all OK thanks.

Hello. Yes, I did as you suggested and it's worked. The funny thing is I checked the updates the day before and it had not found anything but when I re checked and followed the directions you gave I saw it had the necessary drivers so I did as you suggested and it's worked. I am now able to print etc with the new laptop using windows 11.
