                 Hello hefty1,

Go to www.hp.com/support, select your country/region, then click Drivers and Software. Enter the product name in the text field, then click the Search button. If necessary, select your product from the list of similar products on the page. Select your language from the drop-down list box, then select the operating system you are using on your computer. Click Driver, then review the options available for your product. The available options vary depending on your product. HP recommends that you install the Complete Software Solution option to optimize product performance and functionality. Click the driver option you want to download, view the details, and then click Download. If the File Download Security Warning window appears, click Save, and then navigate to a location on your computer where you want to save the file. Click Save. The software is downloaded to your computer. When the download is complete and you are ready to install the files, click Open Folder, then click the downloaded file. The file name ends with .exe. Noticed : If you closed the Download Complete screen, locate the folder where you saved the downloaded file, and then open the file.

Unfortunately, your HP CP1700 printer is considered "retired" by HP and drivers and other support documents have been removed from the HP site.

I did find a driver on some third party sites, but the latest driver was for Windows XP and gave an error when I tried to install it in Windows 10.

You may have success installing the Microsoft driver as follows:  go to Control Panel, Devices and Printers, Add a Printer, The printer I want is not listed, Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings, Next.

When the next screen comes up click on  the proper port, Next.  Windows Update.  Wait for the screen to refresh (may take several minutes), then select HP (not Hewlett Packard or Hewlett-Packard) as the manufacturer and select the HP Color Inkjet CP1700 printer from the list, Next, Next, Yes, Next, Print a Test Page, Finish.
