I like to print greeting cards using A-7 folder card stock , paper size 6 7/8in x 10in.  I was able to do so on my last HP and Lexmark printer by clicking a custom print option.  I don't know how to do that with this printer.   I feel I am stuck with pre-set options that are no where close to what I need.  I never imagined that printer capability not being there, when it has been an option before.  Any suggestions on how to use my Hallmark card program with this HP printer and A7 card stock?

I cannot help with using Hallmark software.

That said, if you have not done so,

  • You do need / want to install the Full Feature Software / Full Driver printer software for the printer to give you access to all the printer features.
  • Install Adobe Reader DC

Will that be enough?

Normally, yes

OR

Might be, though there is no guarantee this printer supports printing on A7 paper in duplex / booklet format.

The other consideration is the weight of the "card" paper - this must be supported else the paper will jam and / or the job will fail in other ways.

What the printer can do:

Product Specifications for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8035e All-in-One Printer (1L0H6A)

For the sake of the answer...

For the moment, consider that the printer does support your paper size / type choice and that it will let you print that size in Booklet (duplex) format.

Continue...

The Full Feature Software / full driver printer software is available.

Install the software using the Easy Start wrapper.

At the point where you can do so, Select to install the Full Driver.

Printer Software Check

Notes

If the full driver printer software is (already) installed, you will see the printer listed in Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features.

In addition, the installed software places two shortcut icons on the Desktop.

The Printer Assistant is named for the printer and provides access to Print , Scan , and Tools

HP Scan is named for itself and provides a direct call to the HP Scan software.

Printer software not installed?

Method - Use the Easy Start Wrapper to Install the Full Feature / Full Driver Software

For printers that support the option,

Use the Easy Start wrapper to install and configure the printer software.

  • Home Page - HP Easy Start
  • Open Category Software and Drivers
  • Topic: Software-Utility
  • Download-and-Save  the current version of the Easy Start wrapper to install your print software
  • If using USB:  Disconnect the USB cable between the printer and computer before installing the software.
  • Right-Click on the downloaded package and "Run as Administrator" to start the installation
  • When asked, Select to install the “Full Driver” / “Full Feature Software”
  • If using USB:  Connect the cable when instructed to do so (near the end of the installation process).
  • After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in.

Notes >> Easy Start... The Journey

  1. Full Administrator Rights are required to complete the HP Software installation.
  2. About 2/3 of the way through the setup, you will be given the opportunity to select the software - select the "Full Driver" set (as opposed to the basic driver or other application).
  3. You can skip / ignore suggestion(s) that you add the HP Account – you’ll need the account at some point, for now, you can skip this suggestion (as many times as it insists it’s a good idea) during the full driver software installation.
  4. If you see it, you can skip / ignore suggestion(s) regarding Instant Ink subscription.  Instant Ink subscription is NOT mandatory.
  5. Full driver includes print and scan functions supported by your printer and provides the printer features on which other applications / software might depend.

Next,

Try the job using your software.

What else?

If you wish to do so,

Export your "card" document to PDF format

Use Adobe Reader DC  to print the document in "Booklet" format.

Not sure?  Use Plain paper to test...

Thanks for all the advice.  I ended up calling HP and they showed me how to go into printer properties and create a new paper size.  Once you do that you need to, close the programs and restart the computer and the printer for the new paper size options to show up.  Once the new paper size was created, then that option automatically showed up on the Hallmark Card program as a print option.
