@texasgreeneyes,

I reviewed your response comprehensively. Terrific efforts and immense patience displayed coupled with superb technical skills were displayed by you.  It is wonderful to have you back. Kudos to you for a job well done. 🙂

  • Do you have an Hp connected account and want to change the printer for that account?
  • Is it an Eprint connected account or an Instant Ink account?

If so please perform these steps:

This YouTube video shows how to add the printer to the HP connected account: https://hp.care/2M2lSqY

This YouTube video shows you how to remove an HP printer from the connected account: https://hp.care/2IJs4mH

This should do the trick for you. If it is nothing to do with your connected account, then uninstall the printer from your computer as suggested in my earlier post and reinstall the latest drivers of the new printer from this link: http://hp/.com/drivers and follow the on-screen instructions. This should fix the issue.

Now trust me, I've done all I can to assist you here by keeping your best interest in mind and it has been an absolute privilege to share this platform with you and a genuine pleasure to work with you. I hope things work great for you.

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes. To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care and have a blessed year ahead. Stay healthy and smile big 🙂

 Cheers!

@texasgreeneyes,

Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums.  After reading your post I see that you need assistance regarding issues with removing a printer from devices and printers that you no longer use. It will be a delight to assist you here.

Superb analysis and brilliant diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. 🙂

To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this:

  • Did you try to remove the printer from control panel?

For now, please try these steps to uninstall the printer drivers/

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

This should work for you.

Perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. Good luck to you. I will keep a watch for your response.  Please note that I am not overloading you with steps but instead, giving you more information to work with.

We are as eager as you are to get the issue fixed. I request you to perform all these steps till the issue is fixed.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

David, thank you for the very concise instructions on how to remove my printer. I appreciate the time and effort that answer must have entailed, but I'm afraid I was very unclear exactly from WHERE I need to remove the printer. I also should not have said "My Devices". As a little background, I bought a new computer and printer. Since the old printer was never connected to the new computer, it did not appear in the list of printers on my computer. I did find a couple of pieces of software for that printer on the new computer, so I uninstalled those. The place from which I am trying to remove the printer is actually on HP's site where it is still listed under My Products. Since it is still listed there, the printer name also appears on my Printer Assistant. I cannot find any instructions in either location on  how to remove an item from My Products. I would be very, very grateful if you could assist me in this matter!!

Thanks!

Mary

David, once again thank you for an exceptionally in-depth reply. I went through each of the steps, but then realized that I had already cancelled my old printer and enrolled my new printer in the Instant Ink program respectively several days ago so I was not able to either enroll the new printer (again) or remove the old one since it was technically still enrolled in the Instant Ink program. Each time I tried to add the new printer I got the message that it was already enrolled. Likewise with the old printer - the message said a cancellation was in progress. So I suspect that I will just need to let the old printer's enrollment run its course. It is supposed to end on June 24th. I will wait until then and then try once again to remove the old printer. I suspect I will then be able to do so. Thanks so much for all your help!!
