I odered ledger 11x17 paper yet it doesnt fit in tray 2 labeled 11x17

Hello i just bought a HP9730e Printer to make both ledger and letter sized prints. The letter prints work just fine but the 11x17 paper i bought from staples doesn't fit in the second tray. It's labeled 11x17 and has the markings for it but the paper is much bigger to the point where the tray doesn't even close, the paper is also labeled 11x17 so one of these is wrong but i cannot make my construction prints regardless

The larger paper paper size is supported.

It does seem like it should work.
