@sharib11, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The message you received “This printer provided a new security certificate, or another device is impersonating it. Accept the new certificate?” is a legitimate security feature of HP printers that use encrypted communication protocols (like HTTPS or IPPS) for secure printing and scanning over the network.

What does this mean?

HP printers periodically renew their SSL/TLS certificates to maintain secure communication. When this happens, your computer or device may prompt you to accept the new certificate to continue secure communication. This is normal behavior and not usually a cause for concern.

However, if you're unsure whether the certificate change is genuine, here are steps to verify and proceed safely:

Recommended Steps:

Confirm the printer's identity:

  • Ensure the printer name and IP address shown in the prompt match your known printer.
  • You can check the printer’s IP address from the printer control panel:
    • Go to Settings > Network Setup > Wi-Fi Summary or Ethernet Summary.

Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • Open a browser and enter the printer’s IP address.
  • Log in to the EWS and navigate to Security > Certificate Management.
  • You can view the current certificate details and confirm its validity.

Accept the certificate:

  • If the certificate matches the printer’s identity and was recently renewed, it’s safe to click Accept.

Update firmware (optional but recommended):

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
