HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

 was having trouble with printer not printing from computer so decided to try remove and reinstall but even though both printer and computer are on the same network, the printer will not connect to the computer..  I've tried everything I can think of but nothing seems to work.  Please help!

To reinstall your HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One printer and resolve connectivity issues, follow these steps to ensure a proper setup and connection between your printer and computer:

 

1. Prepare the Printer and Network:

  • Power Cycle the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for 30 seconds, plug it back in, and turn it on.
  • Check Wi-Fi Connection: Ensure the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network. On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Wireless > Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard and connect to your network.

2. Reboot Your Computer and Router:

  • Restart your computer and router to refresh network connections and resolve any temporary network issues.

3. Download the Latest Drivers:

  • Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers and software for the HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One printer that matches your operating system (e.g., Windows, macOS).
  • Use the HP Easy Start tool if available, as it simplifies the installation process by guiding you through setup.

4. Install the Printer Software:

  • Run the downloaded installation file and follow the on-screen instructions. Choose the Wireless Setup option during the installation process.
  • Ensure you select the correct printer from the list if multiple HP devices are detected on the network.

5. Add the Printer Manually (If Not Detected Automatically):

  • Windows: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Add a printer and select your HP ENVY 4500 from the list. If it doesn’t appear, click on The printer that I want isn't listed, then select Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname and enter your printer's IP address (found on the printer’s network configuration page).
  • Mac: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners > Add (+), select your HP ENVY 4500 from the list, or use the IP option if the printer isn’t listed.

6. Check Printer and Network Settings:

  • Printer Status: Ensure the printer is online and not in an error state.
  • Firewall Settings: Check your computer’s firewall settings to ensure that they are not blocking printer communication. Temporarily disable the firewall to see if it resolves the issue, then adjust the settings accordingly.

7. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows Only):

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool to diagnose and fix common printing and scanning problems, including connection issues.

8. Assign a Static IP Address to the Printer:

  • On the printer's control panel, print a Network Configuration Page (usually found under Wireless > Settings).
  • Access your router’s settings, and assign a static IP address to your printer based on the details from the configuration page. This can help maintain a stable connection.

9. Reset Network Settings on the Printer:

  • If the printer still doesn’t connect, reset the printer’s network settings to default by navigating to Wireless > Restore Network Settings on the printer’s control panel, then reconnect to your Wi-Fi network.

10. Check for Printer Firmware Updates:

  • Visit the HP support site to check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer that may address connectivity issues.

 

Following these steps should help you successfully reinstall and reconnect your HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One printer to your computer. If the problem persists, try connecting via USB temporarily to verify the printer works, then troubleshoot the Wi-Fi connection further or contact HP Phone Support for additional assistance.
