HP Officejet Pro 8630 e-All-in-One Printer

Hello community,

I recently changed My Internet provider. My Wi-fi modem. is currently on the second floor. My hp wireless all in one is on the first floor. I have been unable to. update the old Wi-Fi to the new Wi-Fi. I could not find help on HP. Website. I am not currently under warranty. This is an older model printer. One of the instructions I read said to uninstall the printer and its component. I uninstalled the HP printer. The HP Smart. and the HP dr. Now I am having a hard time. trying to reinstall the HP software. Again, this is a new computer. and I don't believe I have the 8630. disk. I Really would. appreciate any help.

Hi @ShirlE--11,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

Getting your HP OfficeJet Pro 8630e set up on your new computer and updating it to the new Wi-Fi network can be done by following these steps:

1. Reinstall the Printer on Your New Computer

Download the Latest Drivers:

  • Visit the HP Support website and search for your printer model (HP OfficeJet Pro 8630e).
  • Download and install the latest full-feature driver and software package for your printer that matches your computer's operating system.

Connect the Printer to Your New Computer:

  • Once the software is downloaded, run the installer. During the setup process, you'll be prompted to connect the printer to your computer. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Choose the Wi-Fi option when asked how you want to connect your printer.

2. Update the Printer’s Wi-Fi Settings

Since you've changed Wi-Fi networks, you'll need to update the Wi-Fi settings on your printer.

Use the Printer's Control Panel:

  1. On the printer’s control panel, go to the Wireless or Network menu.
  2. Select Wireless Setup Wizard.
  3. The printer will search for available Wi-Fi networks. Select your new Wi-Fi network from the list.
  4. Enter the Wi-Fi password when prompted.
  5. The printer should connect to the new Wi-Fi network. Once connected, the Wi-Fi light on the printer should be solid (not blinking).

Using the HP Smart App:

  1. Download and install the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store (if you're on Windows) or from the Mac App Store.
  2. Open the app and click on “Set up a new printer.”
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your printer to the new Wi-Fi network.

3. Add the Printer to Your Computer

Windows:

  1. Open Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Click Add a printer or scanner.
  3. Your HP OfficeJet Pro 8630e should appear in the list. Select it and click Add device.
  4. Follow any additional on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

Mac:

  1. Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Click the + button to add a printer.
  3. Your HP OfficeJet Pro 8630e should appear in the list. Select it and click Add.
  4. Complete any additional setup steps as prompted.

4. Test the Connection

  • Print a test page to ensure that the printer is correctly connected to the new Wi-Fi network and is working with your new computer.

5. Troubleshooting

  • Network Reset: If the printer is still not connecting to the new Wi-Fi network, you can reset the network settings on the printer by going to the Wireless or Network menu and selecting Restore Network Defaults. Then, try the setup process again.
  • Router Proximity: Ensure that your printer is within a good range of the Wi-Fi router and that there are no significant obstacles causing interference.

If you encounter further difficulties, it may help to restart your router, printer, and computer to refresh all connections. If you still can't connect the printer to Wi-Fi, you may want to try setting it up using a USB connection temporarily.

If this does not help, I recommend you contact phone support.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
