HP Neverstop Laser MFP 1202w
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I'm finding it impossible to get my printer working. Funnily enough, I can scan, but windows will not properly recognize my device as a printer.

I have tried the following:

All of these attempts to lead to this problem:

Under "Printers & scanners" in windows settings, the printer shows but there is a message saying "Driver is unavailable"

Upon removing and re-adding via "Add a printer or scanner" -> "The printer that I want isn't listed" -> "My printer is a little older, help me find it"  -> Next -> Then there's an error message saying "Printer driver was not installed Element not found".

Trying to re-add it via "Add a printer or scanner", by clicking "add device" on "HP neverstop laser MFP 1202w (7F67DC)", it just says "connecting" and never connects, or connects but does back to "driver is unavailable"

My computer is connected to wifi. My printer is connected to wifi (the same one). This only happens with my computer, I am able to print with my phone, using the HP smart app (also on the same wifi).

This is driving me nuts. Please help.

Windows 10 is updated with version:

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are getting a printer driver issue, follow these steps to fix the issue.

Did you uninstall the printer driver from the root level before installing the new printer driver?

If not, follow these steps:-

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer-related software.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install the printer using the HP Smart app

Click here to download the driver.

Let me know how it goes.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.
