Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
Good morning

I have an Office Jet 6950

As of today I no longer have the ability to scan using OCR: save as editable text, although I could.

It just disappeared from the list of choices

Thanks for your help

Hello @Elvi10 ,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!

There is only this SW package: HP OfficeJet 6950 All-in-One Print and Scan Driver and Accessories
But since 26. May 2022 this SW package is delivered without OCR!

When did you install this printer for the first time?

Kind Regards
Andr-1611

Good morning,

A big thank you for your reply.

There must have been an update then, because I haven't reinstalled the package since.

The first time I installed the software was on 06.12.2021.

Thanks again for your responsiveness

HP support is unable to find me an explanation other than to say uninstall all drivers and reinstall all drivers and software without HP smart. This is their answer.

Best Regards

Do you still have this installation software?
On CD or a backup?

Right-click Start, search for "control panel" and open "Programs and Features" < OCR Software by I.R.I.S. 14.0 > Is this software installed?

Kind Regards

I don't have the installation CD though.

I don't even know if there was one.

Try this Solution:

  1. Download only this file: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi
  2. Close all programs

Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads double-click on the msi.

OPTIONAL:

Add HP Scan Extended shortcut to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start
    • Open File Explorer > Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP Scan Extended\bin
    • Right-Click on "HPScan.exe" > Select Pin to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start

Hello

thank you for your reply

unfortunately it is not the OCR that has been installed but the possibility of sending to the cloud

You did better than HP support, who found nothing, they flatly advise me to change printers with an exceptional discount and to pay the HP+ service to have the OCR

Attached is the screenshot following the installation you recommended to me.

Once again a big thank you for your dedication.
