Hi @Paulwall9696,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like your HP ENVY 6455e printer is experiencing a common issue with the HP Smart app showing an "incomplete setup" message. This can happen due to connectivity issues, changes in network settings, or problems with the HP Smart app. Here are some steps to resolve the issue.
Power Cycle the Printer
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and power it on. Sometimes, this can help reset any internal issues.
Reset the Printer’s Network Settings
If your network settings have changed or the printer is no longer connected to Wi-Fi, resetting the network settings can help:
- On the printer, press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons at the same time for about 5 seconds until the Power button starts blinking.
- This will reset the network settings, allowing you to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
Re-add the Printer in the HP Smart App
- Make sure you are using the latest version of the HP Smart app. Update it if needed.
- Open the HP Smart app on your device and remove the printer (if listed) by selecting the printer and choosing Remove Printer or Forget Printer.
- After removing it, close the app and restart your device.
- Open the HP Smart app again and go through the setup process to add the printer as a new device. Follow the prompts to reconnect it to your Wi-Fi.
Use HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows Only)
If you're on a Windows PC, HP provides a diagnostic tool called HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor from the HP support site.
- Follow the prompts in the tool to diagnose and fix connection issues with the printer.
Factory Reset the Printer
As a last resort, if nothing else works, you can perform a factory reset:
- On the printer, press and hold the Power button.
- While holding the Power button, press the Cancel and Resume buttons at the same time.
- Continue holding the buttons until the lights on the printer blink, which will initiate the factory reset.
Reinstall the HP Smart App
If the issue persists after resetting the printer, try uninstalling and reinstalling the HP Smart app to ensure it's not a software glitch.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
