The information light on my new hp2620 printer is on - not flashing but on.

Should it be on all the time?

The wireless light is supposed to be ON all the time when the printer is connected to ta network.

As the printer is working fine. You do not need to worry about the information light.

Keep us posted if you have any issues with the printer.

Hi @Andrew2051

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

Press and hold the information button for 3 seconds and it prints out a report if any errors on the printer.

You may also perform a hard reset on the printer

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

For more info on blinking lights on the printer, refer to this document.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi and thanks so much for the reply.

In the meantime, I uninstalled and the reinstalled the printer and still the information power is on all the time.

I did follow both your suggestions: 1) when I pushed it, the printer printed out 2 pages of wireless quick start info; 2) I did the thing with the plug as you suggested. The information light came back on. I pushed it and it printed the same 2 pages ..and the information light then remains on.

@Andrew2051, thank you for the response.

This means that there is no error on the printer as the printer did not print an error report. You do not have to worry about the same.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

Thanks so much for the very, very quick reply! That's great!

But, if there are no problems why is the information light still on, not blinking but on all the time. If there are no problems, I assume the light should be off?

@Andrew2051

The light on the printer should not be always ON as per the design.

If the light is blinking, it means there is an error on the printer.

For more info on blinking lights on the printer, kindly refer to this document.

Could you send a picture of the printer control panel in your next post to assist you better.

Keep me posted.

Thanks so much.

I am afraid that, aged 68, I do not have the tech to take you a pic and send it.

The information light is on, all the time  - that's about all I can say.

The wireless light, right above it, is also always on..but that's OK.

Note that I am still able to print and scan.
