I changed an ink cartridge that was low this morning. Now a second cartridge is indicating replacement is needed. However, when starting the process the cartridge carrier will not move when I hit the replace button on screen.  Issue is not registering as a paper jam or cartridge carrier jam error message.

I have tried to defer replacement and printer will not print.

I have tried to reset by turning off and removing power from the unit.

Based on other inquiries in the help forum, I believe issue is a sensor. The solution tried at that point looks to be a factory reset.

Are there other solutions?
can you send the factory rest instruction?

@flcma99, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are not able to use the printer due to this error.

Kindly perform the steps mentioned in these documents - Paper Jam Error and Carriage jam or E3 error

A factory reset can be performed only if the printer is not stuck on this error screen. Check if you are able to bypass the error and access the home screen of the printer.

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.
