I recently purchased a 7900e Inkjet printer. With my previous Envy printer, I was able to place on my PC screen icons of the ink level, maintenance, tools, etc. With the new one, I can only view these icons on my printer's control panel. I can place the printing status icon on the PC screen.
Can the icons on the printer control panel be copied onto the PC screen?

Answer
Maybe, at least, sort of.
What you do depends on your Operating System / version and the tools available to you in that environment.
General "estimated ink levels" visual illustration - View on the HP Smart app - main menu.
Reference
Look up where to find the Printer PIN located on your printer.
You'll need the PIN to access some parts of the Embedded Web Server (EWS).
EWS is available both through the HP Smart application (Printer Settings > Advanced Settings) and using your browser.
Note:
If you end up using a browser that regardless what you do, will not let you through to EWS using your printer's IP address, use a different browser.
If you need only a visual cue as to the approximate ink levels, the information is available on the main menu of the HP Smart app for your added printer(s).
Open HP Smart
Add your printer(s)
View ink level estimates the main "home" menu
Need to dig deeper?
Click on the graphic illustration of the "Estimated supply levels"
If asked, enter the printer PIN number
Presumably, EWS will open where you can check the details of your ink supplies.
and / or
You can also try opening EWS from within HP Smart > Printer Settings > Advanced Settings
What if?
EWS won't open from within HP Smart - fight with it or go another way...
Open EWS manually using your browser and the printer's IP address in the URL address.
=======================
EWS > HP Document / How-to (original format)
Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)
NOTE: Find printer IP address
Section Open the EWS over a local network orientation
EWS - Ink Supplies
Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar
Tab Home > Printer Information > Supply Status
OR (New EWS format - select new printers)
Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar
Section Home
And
