Hi @Raquel2409,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Installing drivers for older printers like the HP Deskjet F4210 on Windows 11 can be challenging, especially since HP has stopped supporting this model. However, here are a few methods you can try to get your printer working.

Use Windows Update

  1. Connect the Printer: Make sure your HP Deskjet F4210 is connected to your computer via USB.
  2. Open Settings: Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  3. Update & Security: Go to Update & Security > Windows Update.
  4. Check for Updates: Click on Check for updates. Sometimes, Windows may find the necessary drivers for older printers.

Use Compatibility Mode

  1. Download the Driver:
    • Visit the HP support website and search for "HP Deskjet F4210."
    • If you can’t find the specific Windows 11 driver, try downloading the Windows 10 driver.
  2. Install in Compatibility Mode:
    • Right-click the downloaded driver file and select Properties.
    • Go to the Compatibility tab.
    • Check the box for Run this program in compatibility mode for: and select Windows 10.
    • Click Apply and then OK.
    • Run the installer.

Use Generic Drivers

  1. Open Settings: Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  2. Devices: Go to Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  3. Add a Printer: Click Add a printer or scanner.
  4. The printer that I want isn't listed: Select this option.
  5. Add a Local Printer: Choose Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings.
  6. Select Driver: Choose HP from the manufacturer list and then select a generic HP printer (like HP Deskjet 990c or HP Universal Print Driver).

Use Third-Party Driver Software

  • You can also consider using third-party driver software like Driver Booster or Driver Easy. These programs can sometimes find and install compatible drivers for older hardware.

Virtual Machine or Older OS

  • As a last resort, if you still have an older computer or can set up a virtual machine with an older version of Windows (like Windows 7 or 8), you can install the printer there.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
