I am trying to install software updates for my printer to my MAC OS 15. It is prompting me to enter a password to allow SWHelper to proceed but it will not accept my HP or my computer's password

Hi @Kimmers1458
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
I understand how frustrating this must be—especially when you're entering the correct passwords and still hitting a roadblock.
Let's go through some troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue.
Steps to Fix SWHelper Password Issue on macOS 15
1. Try Your Mac’s Administrator Password
- The SWHelper prompt is likely asking for your Mac’s administrator password, not your HP account password.
- If you’re unsure, go to System Settings > Users & Groups and check your admin account credentials.
2. Reset Your Mac’s Password (If Needed)
- If your Mac’s password isn’t working, reset it:
- Click Apple Menu > System Settings > Users & Groups.
- Select your account and click Change Password.
- Try using the new password when prompted by SWHelper.
3. Run HP Easy Start as Administrator
- Download HP Easy Start from HP’s official support page.
- Right-click the HP Easy Start installer and select Open.
- If prompted, enter your Mac’s administrator password.
4. Check HP’s Support Discussion
- Some users have reported similar issues when connecting HP printers to macOS 15 here.
- If HP Easy Start is stuck on "Gathering Device Information", restarting the printer and router may help.
5. Install HP Drivers Manually
- If HP Easy Start isn’t working, download the full feature driver package from HP’s support page.
- Install the drivers manually and restart your Mac.

Thank you for responding to my question! You are correct that it is my mac's administrative password, not a password for SWHelper. Search the internet and found out that I had to turn "on" HP in settings so my computer would allow my to enter my password. Once I did that, everything worked!
Thanks again!
