Hi @srigow,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error code 0x80070103 typically means there's an issue with installing or updating a driver on your system. This specific error often indicates that Windows is trying to install a driver that is already installed or is not compatible.

Here’s how you can troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

Check for Driver Updates:

  • Open Device Manager (you can search for it in the Start menu).
  • Locate the Hewlett-Packard device under the appropriate category (like Universal Serial Bus controllers for USB devices).
  • Right-click on the device and select Update driver.
  • Choose Search automatically for updated driver software and let Windows search for an updated driver.

Uninstall and Reinstall the Driver:

  • In Device Manager, right-click on the Hewlett-Packard device and select Uninstall device.
  • Make sure to check the box that says Delete the driver software for this device if it’s available.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Windows should attempt to reinstall the driver automatically. If not, visit HP’s official website to download and install the latest driver manually.

Check HP’s Support Website:

  • Go to HP’s support page and search for the driver that corresponds to your device and operating system.
  • Download and install the latest driver from HP’s website.

Windows Update:

  • Ensure that your Windows operating system is fully up-to-date. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.

Check for Conflicting Drivers:

  • Sometimes, conflicting drivers can cause installation errors. Check if there are multiple entries for the same device in Device Manager and remove any duplicates.

Compatibility Mode:

  • If you’re installing a driver manually from HP’s website, try running the installer in compatibility mode. Right-click the installer file, select Properties, go to the Compatibility tab, and choose an older version of Windows.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
