The install error 0x80070103 typically occurs during Windows Update, especially when trying to install a driver that is already installed or incompatible. This can happen with HP devices when Windows attempts to install an outdated or duplicate driver.
Here's how you can fix it:

- Select Windows Update and run the troubleshooter.
Check Windows Update Services
- Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- Ensure these services are Running:
- Windows Update
- Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS)
- If not, right-click and select Start or Restart.
Use System File Checker and DISM
Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run:
sfc /scannow
Then:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Hide the Problematic Driver Update
If the error is caused by a specific driver:
- Download the Show or Hide Updates Troubleshooter from Microsoft: wushowhide.diagcab
- Run it and hide the update causing the issue.
Perform an In-Place Upgrade (if nothing else works)
