Hi @deezer26-V,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand Windows Update is showing Install error, 0x800f020b related to an HP update. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Disconnect the printer or HP device (if connected by USB)
Error 0x800f020b often appears when Windows tries to install a driver for a device that is not currently connected.
Disconnect the HP device, restart the computer, then reconnect it.

Run Windows Update again
Go to Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates.
This allows Windows to retry the driver installation after the device is detected.

Install the driver manually from HP
Search for your HP printer or laptop model on the HP Support website.
Download and install the full feature driver or recommended driver package instead of using Windows Update.

Clear the Windows Update cache
Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and stop Windows Update.
Restart the computer and run Windows Update again.

Hide the problematic update (if it keeps failing)
If everything is working normally, the update may not be required.
You can use the Windows “Show or Hide Updates” troubleshooter to prevent Windows from retrying the installation.

This error usually occurs when Windows Update attempts to install an HP driver that does not match the connected device or the device is not detected during installation.

I hope this helps.
