Hi @reyeshm1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error code 0x80070103 typically indicates that there's a driver update available for a device on your computer, but Windows Update is unable to install it because it might not be compatible with your current hardware or drivers. Here’s how you can try to resolve this issue.
Check for Updates Manually:
- Go to the Start menu, then Settings (gear icon).
- Navigate to Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Click on Check for updates to see if there are any pending updates, especially driver updates.
Review Optional Updates:
- In the Windows Update settings, look for any optional updates listed.
- Sometimes, driver updates are categorized as optional updates. If you find any related to your HP device or USB drivers, try installing them.
Update Drivers Manually:
- If Windows Update doesn't resolve the issue, you can manually update drivers:
- Go to the Device Manager (you can search for it in the Start menu).
- Find the device related to the error (likely a USB device or an HP device).
- Right-click on it and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.
Check HP Support:
- Visit HP’s official website and go to their support section.
- Look for drivers specifically for your HP device model and download the latest ones available.
- Install them manually by running the downloaded file.
Disable Driver Updates via Windows Update (Optional):
- If you suspect a specific driver update is causing issues, you can temporarily disable driver updates through Windows Update:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Advanced options.
- Under Choose how updates are installed, select Notify to schedule restart or Never install driver software from Windows Update.
Use Device Manager to Roll Back Drivers (if applicable):
- If you recently updated a driver and the issue started afterward, you can try rolling back the driver:
- Open Device Manager, right-click the device, and select Properties.
- Go to the Driver tab and choose Roll Back Driver if available. This option is only available if you've updated the driver recently.
Restart Your Computer:
- Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve pending updates or installation issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
