Hello. I have received a new print head for my HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer, but it came with the wrong setup cartridges. My printer is regionalized to accept 954 cartridges... the ones I have are 952. I need some help to resolve this.
Options I see are:
1. Set region to accept 952 cartridges, complete the setup, then set the region back to accept the 954 cartridges I can get locally. From what I gather, a code is needed from HP to change the region setting on the printer.
2. Source 954 type setup cartridges - I am not sure where these are available? I understand it needs to be setup cartridges specifically for installing the print head.
3. Is there a way to set up the new print head without the setup cartridges. When I put regular 954 type cartridges in, I get a message saying that "new, unused cartridges must be used for startup" on the printer display. Will simply buying brand new cartridges and using those allow the print head to be installed and configured?
Please advise... I'm a bit stuck with this.

1. Not possible, the printer must be in working state to do that, with a new printed not initialised, it is not in working state.
2. Setup cartridges can't be bought, you might get some on eBay if you are very very lucky, they must be new, not used.
3. This is your best chance, check this video on how to eliminate use of setup cartridges, it's not your printer model but the steps should be the same. If this works the ink cartridges must be full of ink, not new but full.

Thank you! Option 3 worked - I installed brand new cartridges (954 type) and the printer initialised the new print head successfully. Prints fine now. Strangely, I never actually got a message saying that SETUP cartridges need to be used specifically in the first instance, so it could be the case using new cartridges would have worked without the settings tweak in the video (which I did just to be sure).
