HP OfficeJet Pro 6970-All-in-One
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I am in home office and simply want to print from my office notebook to my private HP OfficeJet Pro 6970-All-in-One.

The issue is, that I don’t have admin-rights on the notebook and I was not able to find a driver for installation without admin rights!?! (I am looking for a driver solution - not ePrint!!!)

Thank you

any help appreciated!!!

Same problem except that I am listed as the  administrator in settings.

Hi @xwitty

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the printer installation.

Please try these steps -

1.) In the search box, type CMD.
2.) Click on "Run as administrator".
3.) Type net user administrator /active:yes and hit enter.
4.) Close the command prompt and restart the computer.
5.) When your computer comes on log into the new account that should show. It will be called Administrator and will not have a password on it.
6.) If your computer automatically logs into your account after the restart then go to your start menu and click the arrow beside 'shutdown' and choose 'switch user'. Now log into the Administrator account we just unlocked.
7.) Under the Administrator account, install the printer software.
Test the printer.
8.) To turn off the Admin account start back at step 1 and type in net user administrator /active:no.

If the issue persists, it could be a user account issue and I would suggest you create a new user account and reinstall printer drivers from here.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi,

thanks for your answer, but in step 2 , admin rights are needed ...

> "Run as administrator"

=> the topic reads "Install printerdriver without administrator rights"

So unfortunately, this does not solve my problem 😞

thanks

Michael

I tried installing the latest driver from HP installed under the Admin's ID and run from the Admin's signon. Both times the installed failed with the same error code 5 which states that the driver package must be installed by a member of the Admin's group.  I can print some things from a Samsung 8 phone, but that is not the answer for my problem which has the latest upgrades for Windows 10.
