Hi all,
I just bought a HP DeskJet 1112 and tried to set it up with my MacBook Pro (OS 10.14). HP Easy Start finds the printer and then prompts me to use HP Smart which constantly fails to detect the printer. The power cable and the USB are connected ( I can see the printer in the System Preferences it just does not have the correct driver available to select).
Can anyone tell me if they have similar issues and how they can be solved. HP has an impossible support system and I am not able to even send an email to get support from them.

Hi Alex,
Please follow below version of HP Easy Start, as soon as it launches open the top HP Easy Start menu and select Uninstall HP Software.
Follow the steps on screen and then click on Set Up New Device and follow the steps to reinstall the printer:

Once completing the installation of the Essential Software, even if HP Easy Start recommends using HP Smart, this is only a general recommendation which not aplly for your printer, but the installation should be done and you should be able to use any feature at this time.

Hi ShlomiL,
I have followed your instructions but this is not fixing the problem. Even when uninstalling HP software and then following the set up of a new device (and stopping when it comes to HP smart), the printer is still not able to print. If I initiate a printing process it ends up in the queue for two seconds before disappearing without the printer giving a beep.
Any other ideas?

P.S.: I have tried this also on my other mac that is running Big Sur with the same result.

Please follow HP Easy Start again, when it prompt to download HP Smart, close tue window and press on Continue to software download, then follow the steps on screen to install the HP Essential Software.

this is the furthest I've ever gotten! it attempts to print now but the pages are blank. ink levels are on the lower side but when I put a q tip to the ink cartridge plenty of ink still gets on the q tip. it appears the drivers still aren't correctly communicating with the printer(definitely an assumption it could be anything). what should I try now? test page plus other misc documents such as shopping lists tax forms all blank.
