To set up your HP Smart Tank 581 All-in-One Printer, follow these steps to ensure proper installation:

Remove Printer from Box

• Place the printer on a level surface.
• Remove all tape, stickers, and packing materials from the printer.

Connect Power

• Connect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
• Plug it into an electrical outlet.
• Turn on the printer.

Fill Ink Tanks

• Lift the ink access door from the left side of the printer.
• Open the tank covers.
• Match the color of the ink bottle with the tank and fill accordingly.

Install Printheads

• Lift the ink access door again for the carriage to move to the center.
• Press the blue button to open the printhead cover.
• Install the printheads making sure not to touch the copper-colored contacts.

Load Paper

• Open the input tray and adjust paper-width guides.
• Load a stack of plain paper with the print-side facing down.

Align Printheads

• Print an alignment page following printer control panel prompts.
• Place the alignment page on the scanner glass and scan to complete the alignment procedure.

Install Printer Software

• Download and install the HP Smart app to complete the setup.
