HP ENVY 5020
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

First I need to vent - everytime I buy a new gadget with 'easy installation' it takes me hours to get it sorted out and I sometimes have to buy in help to get it done. I hope I won't need that this time.

I've spent the last two hours trying to install my new HP ENVY (I envy those, who avoided this printer!) 5020. I've done everything, but the last stage hasn't worked and I cannot connect to the network. I cannot connect with a USB cable either, because my PC does not have the relevant socket.

The set-up software failed to connect the printer (the networks works fine), so I tried to use 'add printer' in the PC settings. It took me a while to find out what the 'WPS pin' was - why can the system not just ask for your network/router's password!  That's something anyone would understand. Anyway, even using that, I could not connect.

As you can probably guess from the above, I'm quite exasperated now. If anyone can think of a solution, I'd be eternally grateful. I work from home and cannot live without a printer.

Thanks in advance - and sorry for the rant!

Welcome to HP forums, I see that you are getting printer connectivity issue.

Restore network settings on the printer and connect the printer with Wireless setup wizard

  1. From the home screen of your printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon .

  2. Touch the Setup icon .

  3. Touch Restore Network Defaults or Restore Network Settings, and then touch Yes to confirm your selection.

  4. After the default network settings are restored, touch the back arrow, touch Wireless Settings, and then touch Wireless Setup Wizard.

The printer searches for available networks.

  5. Touch the name of your wireless network.

  6. If your wireless network does not display in the list of wireless networks, touch Enter New Network Name, and then type the name of your wireless network.

    NOTE:

Type the exact network name, including any uppercase and lowercase letters.

  7. Type your network security password (WEP or WPA key), and then touch Done.

Download full feature driver for the printer and install

Let me know how it goes.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.
