Because of a driver issue, I deleted my HP 8028e printer to re-install. I downloaded fresh copies of the installation software but after entering my PIN the software stops.  I have tried with another fresh copy of the recommended software with the same result.

What now?

I do not know which PIN you are referring to as there are several possibilities.

This video shows how to connect your printer to the modem / router

Possibly you may need to reset the printer first.

HARD reset of HP Office Jet Pro 8028. As the printer is booting up press the back arrow icon 4 times in a row until the support menu comes up.  Try partial or semi-full if it is there or watch 1:12 into this video

This is the full feature software for your printer.

OfficeJet Reference  8028

Let me know if you have a flex system (WiFi boosters or repeaters) as the setup is much more complicated
