I have a Photosmart C6180 which can be accessed by HP Solution center on Windows 10 home 64 bit. I moved all the software to a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro on an new computer. Solution Center did not move over with it. The printer shows up in the list of "Printers & Scanners". I determined that running AIO_CDA_FSW_Full_Win_WW_140_408-5.exe should install the HP Solution Center. That didn't work - see details below. I removed the printer and attempted to reinstall using AIO_CDA_FSW_Full_Win_WW_140_408-5.exe and it again didn't work.
Here is my process:
- reboot
- run AIO_CDA_FSW_Full_Win_WW_140_408-5.exe - doesn't find printer (definition of that statement below)
- Uninstall in "printers & scanners"
- run printui.exe /s /t2 and remove the printer driver
- remove the HP entry in the registry Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Printers\
- reboot
- Printer is not showing in "printers & scanners"
- shortly thereafter, the windows notification shows up that the printer "is setup and ready to go"
- Printer is now showing in "printers & scanners"
- confirm that http://printer_ip_address connects and shows the printer web server
- run AIO_CDA_FSW_Full_Win_WW_140_408-5.exe - printer does not show up
When I say printer does not show up when running AIO_CDA_FSW_Full_Win_WW_140_408-5.exe, that means I
- start the program,
- click on "add a device"
- choose "wired network connection using an ethernet connection"
- when I see "Connect your printer to your router or access port using an ethernet cable", click next ( printer is still connected)
- I see the message "searching for network printers" - then the "Found Network Printers" shows an empty list
- Clicking on "My printer is not listed"and clicking next brings me back to the same screen
- Checking the box "Show Advanced Search Options" , inputting the printer IP address and hitting search also produced not sign of the printer.
I'm certain the problem is not with the printer itself because the old computer can still connect to it and I can use the HP Solution Center on that computer to interact with it.
I have the same experience whether attempting to connect via ethernet or USB.
I have the same experience using an older version of the installer AIO_CDA_FSW_Full_Win_WW_140_408.exe
How can I get AIO_CDA_FSW_Full_Win_WW_140_408-5.exe to proceed further and hopefully install the Solution Center for me ?

Welcome to the HP support community.
Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.
- In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
- Select your HP printer.
- Select Uninstall.
- In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
- In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
- Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
- Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
- Click on Drivers tab.
- Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
- Select OK.
- Remove all instances of the same.
- Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
- Close Devices and Printers.
- Restart the PC again.
Download and install printer full feature driver
Click here to download the driver.
I hope that helps.

There is no "Programs and Features" entry in Search. There is an "Apps and Features" - which had no printers listed in it.
I already deleted the printer under "Printers & scanners",
When I printui.exe /s and attempt to delete the driver, it gives the message below.
The following package(s) can not be deleted:
prnhp003.inf (x64)
This package contains the following driver(s) that are in use:
HP Photosmart C6100 series; This driver is used on:
HP Photosmart C6100 series
The following driver(s) can not be deleted:
Driver HP Photosmart C6100 series (x64) is in use. It is used on:
HP Photosmart C6100 series
Rebooting the computer does not change the message when I rerun printui.exe /s

to expand on my earlier comment - "Programs and Features" does not show up when I search for it. It does show up as a related setting on the Apps and Features page. Would you edit your instructions to make them more accurate ? There were still no HP entries in the list, so it didn't matter in this case.
I look forward to your information on to remove the entry that printui.exe won't delete.

Thanks for replying!
Restart the print spooler and try uninstalling the drivers-
Press “Windows key” + “r” to get the “Run” window.
Type "services.msc" to get Services – Go to “Print spooler” – Right-click and “Stop” the service.
Now again open "Run" - Type “spool” and ok - Go to PRINTERS folder - delete everything in that folder.
Go to services again - Start the print spooler.
Now uninstall and reinstall the printer driver.
Let me know how this goes.
Hope this helps!

That enabled me to remove the printer driver. I rebooted the PC and ran the installation program.
As before, when it got to the Found Network printers page, it still does not list my printer, regardless of whether or not I check the box "My printer is not listed". Clicking on Next only brings me back to the same page.
I have not been able to proceed very far beyond this point.

I think I have resolved it as good as its going to get. I have not been able to get beyond the installation program being unable to find the printer, even though other programs did so.
I called the HP support number and they said the printer is too old and they can't help me (so why did people keep referring me there??).
In the end, I installed "HP Scan Extended" and NAPS.
HP Scan Extended
For Windows: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi
Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"
Make searchable PDF scans with this free scanning software - https://www.naps2.com/
Both of them found the printer and make it work enough to scan docs.
