HP psc 1215
macOS 10.15 Catalina

Hi all, because of the lockdown in the Netherlands I have been working from home since early last year. Normally when I needed to print something which is very rarely, I did it on my office printer, since I don't go to my office I don't have access to a printer. I found an old HP 1215 printer in my attic and tried to install it on my Macbook (Big Sur OS). I downloaded the last known driver on the HP website but I can't install it because the HP installer app is not supported on my Macbook. Of course I can go buy a cheap printer somewhere but I only need to print something maybe a few times a year so I was hoping to use my old printer for this.

Is there any fix for this problem or do I have to throw away the printer?

@RexMundi

I reviewed your post and I understand that the printer stopped working after updating the Mac OS to version 11.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

HP PSC 1215 All-in-One Printer driver for macOS 11 is not available from the HP website or Apple Software Update. However, Gutenprint (formerly called Gimp-Print) provides open-source basic print drivers for many printers that would otherwise not be supported in Mac OS X. To see if your printer is supported, go to Gutenprint drivers for more information.

NOTE: Gutenprint drivers are not supported by HP or Apple.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Thanks for the reply, I took a look but unfortunately my specific type of printer doesn't appear to be supported there. Looks like I'll be buying a new printer... 🙂
