HP Envy 5530 worked well on Windows 8. I was upgraded automatically to Windows 10 and now the printer doesn't work. I have tried downloading the HP Software update for Windows 10 and have followed the Troubleshooting programme supplied by HP but no success. I have read comments that suggest that it is not possible to network an Envy 5530 to a PC operating Windows 10. Surely this can't be correct. Advice please.

Good day @GBeastall,
This is a great place to visit for Community and HP support! I see that the printer isn't working since upgrading the Windows 10. I would like to be able to help you.
From the Devices and Printers window, check to see what the printer name shows and if it is set as the default printer.
Print a configuration page to get the printer's IPv4 address: Printing a Network Configuration Page.
- Check the port assigned to the printer on the computer to see if it matches the IP address of the Configuration page.
- From Devices and Printers, right click the printer and left click Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.
- It should be checked on TCP/IP.
- Then click on Configure Port to view the IP address.
If the IP address doesn't match, through the HP Software, add a new device.
Right-click the Start button (
) or the lower left corner of the screen, and then clickSearch.
In the Search box, type HP, and then click the icon for your printer. The printer software opens.
Click Utilities, and then click Printer Setup & Software Selection.
Click Connect a new printer.
Test the printer.
Please try the steps in this document if you are still having issues: After Windows 10 Upgrade, Printer Problems Occur.
Let me know the results of the Print and Scan Doctor.
If the issue is resolved, your welcome to show your appreciation by clicking the "Accept as Solution" and the "Thumbs Up". Let me know how you make out. Thank you.

Well actually problem is not solved because it recurred again this morning and the same 'fix' routine did not work this time.
My PC (Windows 10) tells me that the printer (Envy 5530) is offline. I believe it is a printer driver problem but all my efforts to resolve the problem have failed. I have downloaded the HP printer driver for Windows 10 ok (on several occasions) but it fails to instal via the wireless network (which I know works because my laptop on a different Windows operating system is fine).
I am wasting huge amounts of time (which I don't have) trying to resolve the issue.
Suggestions please.

Hi GBeastall,
I see that you are having issues with the printer going offline again.
In some network environments, disabling SNMP has been shown to fix printer offline problems.
Search Windows for devices, and click Devices and Printers in the list of results.
Right-click the name of your printer, select Printer Properties, and then select the name of your printer.
Click the Ports tab.
Select the TCP/IP port being used and click Configure Port.
Remove the checkmark from SNMP Status Enabled, and then click OK.
Try printing again. If the problem persists, repeat these steps and re-enable SNMP.
If you are still having issues, try this document for the Printer is Offline. Let me know the results of the Print and Scan Doctor.
Keep me posted. Thanks!

Thanks for the advice but still no joy.
I managed to disable SNMP as you suggested but the printer still did not work. I have been prevented from re-enabling SNMP by an error message 'Requested resource is in use'. The status of the printer has changed from 'Offline' to 'Error'

Hi @GBeastall,
It doesn't sound like the right port is selected or the router might have assigned the printer another IP address. You might have to follow message 2 again to check the ports.
Let me know the IP address from the Configure window and the printed Configuration Page.
How was the printer port listed from the Printer's Properties window?
TCP/IP or WPS? It should be listed as TCP/IP.
Follow the offline document and let me know the results of the Print and Scan Doctor.
We may have to setup a static IP for the printer. Here is the link: Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection. Try the steps in this document and in Solution two: Assign the printer an automatic static IP address.
Thanks!

The IP address and port are correct. However, I can no loner configure the port because I get the error message mentioned in my previous post
Scan doctor offers 'no solutions'
The Wireless Network Test gives 'no problems'
I followed the 'Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection' link including turning everything off. No joy. The printer icon still has the white tick in green circle together with an error message.
I have been at this for 12 hours now. In six hours I leave for China and I need to take printed material with me. I would also like some sleep!

Hi @GBeastall,
I know how frustrating this can be. For now I would suggest to connect the printer to the computer by a USB cable to print off your documents.
Then you can continue troubleshooting the printer if you like.
Open or search for the HP folder in your list of installed software programs, click the folder for your printer, then click the name of your printer.
The printer software opens.
Click Utilities, and then click Printer Setup & Software.
Click Connect a new printer, and then follow the on-screen instructions to set up the printer on your wireless network.
Hope these suggestions help for now. Thanks!

OK have printed using USB cable connection - immediate panic over.
I followed your instructions for connecting a new printer - it was 'unsuccessful'. I was sure it would be because I have tried this several times before.
I suppose that I have a sort of fix if I use the USB cable whenever I want to print and the network whenever my wife wants to print (she is using Windows 7 and her laptop lives in a different room).
Thanks for your help. I will now go to China. I return in a week and I'll see if I have the resolve to try to get the printer working via the network and Windows 10.
