I am trying to install my OfficeJet Pro 8720 on a MacBook Air running Big Sur 11.0.1. When I open system preferences -> printers & scanners and click on the + sign to add a new printer, I get an add printer popup. I see the HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 [6A7B42] in the resulting list (Kind is Bonjour Multifunction). When I click on that printer, the Name field gets populated with HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 and the Use field gets populated with Secure AirPrint. I have both my MacBook Air and the printer connected to my home network via an ethernet cable. When I click on the Add button, I get a dialog stating "Setting up HP OfficeJet Pro 8720... and a back and forth progress bar. After a few seconds, I get an error dialog which states "Unable to verify the printer on your network. Unable to connect to 'HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 [6A7B42]._ipps._tcp.local' our to an error. Would you still like to create the printer?"
So, what is going on? Why can't I install this printer? What error has occurred?
Thank you.

@jonathn6, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I understand you are not able to add the printer on your MAC. Let us try these steps:
Restart the router, the printer, and the MAC
Update the printer firmware
Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your MAC.
Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.
Also, check for any software updates on MAC
Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.
Do you have an Anti-virus/firewall installed on the MAC? If yes, disable the same and check if that helps.
You may check this in System Information > Applications.
Check if MAC filtering is enabled on the router.
What type of encryption is used by the router and if it can forward Bonjour packets.
For more info, refer to - Wired Network Printer Setup
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
