Microsoft Windows 11

I was hoping for an email address for HP as I don’t see the blue report button anywhere.

I was having a lot of trouble getting my printer to work after upgrading with a newer desk top (HP EliteDesk) and Windows 11. I believe the printer driver wasn’t compatible. I asked for HP help and had a phone call from an HP Senior Tech. I was told my firewall was down (news to me!) there were viruses in the network, my IP address was compromised and the system was contaminated. I have an antivirus set up and it hadn’t found anything, which made me a bit suspicious. I was told this was a free HP service but repair would cost £180.

That’s not free but I believe talking to the tech was the free part. I was told a partner company, Intel Technologies, will clean up the pc and get my printer working and told I’d need to handover my pc. This would come to £249 and I could only have a three year contract. Then they would clean up my pc. It took a long time and at the end the printer worked and that’s what I needed.  But when I was sent a copy of the contract, my signature was on the form AND I DID NOT SIGN IT. This meant that who ever tidied up my pc also had a rummage around and found the signature in my files. What else was opened? My bank details? My passport details?

This is all very suspicious. At one point in our discussion I did say this was a scam as I was so very suspicious and was told I’d been given the HP Tech number and it was genuine. I still wonder.  And I have no way of accessing the virus package or any other aspect I paid for on my pc. I don’t know where it is, there isn’t an icon or identifiable program on my pc.

I would like to know what HP knows about Intel Technologies and if they are a genuine HP partner company, or if this is a scan whereas my pc is fixed but it gets complicated later on.
