HP DeskJet 2755e All-in-One Printer

This printer was already set up and operational. After an ink cartridge change, the setup needed completed again. Now, the HP Smart app on both Windows PC and iPhone give an "Invalid PIN" error.

Is the PIN locked out since it was already used in a previous set-up?

Is it possible to reset the PIN registration?

Hi @GaryNF,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

I understand you are unable to connect the printer to the network as it says invalid PIN.

Please try the alternate below to connect your printer to the network.-

● Press the Wireless button ((i)) and the Cancel button (X) from the printer control panel at the same time, and then hold them for three seconds.

Please try the steps below to connect your printer to the network.

-->On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless button and the Resume button together for three seconds. (When Wi-Fi Direct is turned on, the Wi-Fi Direct icon on the display stays on)

--->On your computer or phone go to wifi and connect it to your printer

--->Select your printer with DIRECT in the name from the list of available networks (example: DIRECT-74-HP Deskjet2600).

--->Select the Wi-Fi Direct printer signal in Wi-Fi settings

--->If prompted for a password, type 12345678. This is the default password to log in.

--->Now open a browser and type 192.168.223.1

--->you will be able to access the printer's EWS page

--->on the page, you will find network - click on it

--->go to wireless and select wireless setup wizard

--->now select the network that you want your printer to connect to and type in the password

--->the printer will have solid blue light if it's connected

--->then connect your phone back to your network

I am being prompted to enter the printed PIN once connected and navigating to the Wireless Setup Wizard. When I enter the pin from the inside cover, it is still saying the pin is invalid.

Hi @GaryNF,

Thanks for writing back.

A WPS PIN is not required to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network. Cancel the Windows message, and then download the HP Smart app to finish the printer setup.

  • From the WPS PIN prompt window, click Cancel.
  • Place the printer near the Wi-Fi router if you are setting up a wireless connection.
  • Download the HP Smart app from 123.hp.com (Android, Apple iOS), HP Smart - Microsoft Store (Windows, in English), or HP Smart - Mac App Store (macOS, in English).
  • If the printer setup does not automatically start, click Add Printer or the plus sign, and then follow the prompts to add your printer to the network and finish setup.
  • Go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app) for more information.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
