I have an HP Envy 6055 All-in-one printer. I wanted to add it to my dashboard, but the dashboard keeps telling me that I have an invalid serial number. I am not mixing up an O with a 0(zero). The digit 1 is clearly a digit 1. My printer is speaking to the router, my Chromebook, and my Android phone;  the serial number and all other "address" information prints out on the paper; and all the numbers match the labels on the machine itself. The serial numbers on the back of the machine and inside the ink cartridge chamber are the same. Where am I going wrong?  Thank you.

Hi @Judykhd,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand that you're experiencing difficulty adding your HP Envy 6055 All-in-one printer to your dashboard due to an invalid serial number error. Here are a few suggestions to troubleshoot the issue.

Check Serial Number Format:

  • Ensure that you are entering the serial number in the correct format as specified by the dashboard. Sometimes, certain characters may need to be excluded or included.

Firmware Update:

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP Envy 6055 printer. Updating the firmware may resolve compatibility issues and improve communication with the dashboard.

Clear Cache and Cookies:

  • Clear your browser's cache and cookies before attempting to add the printer to the dashboard again. Sometimes, cached data may cause issues.

Use a Different Browser or Device:

  • Try using a different web browser or device to access the dashboard. This can help rule out browser-specific issues.

Double-Check Connectivity:

  • Ensure that the printer, router, and the device accessing the dashboard are all connected to the same network. Inconsistent network connections can lead to communication problems.

Factory Reset:

  • As a last resort, you can consider performing a factory reset on the printer. Keep in mind that this will erase any personalized settings on the printer, so use this option cautiously. Refer to your printer's user manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure that your printer drivers on the Chromebook and Android phone are up-to-date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause communication issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
